We all make mistakes and there is no shame in it. We
should not be afraid of making mistakes but important thing is that we learn
from our past mistakes and become careful in future. As students we are
especially mistake-prone and the best way to avoid them is to revise for exams.
In order to break the cycle of mistakes is to
prepare for University Admissions 2018 and identify these tendencies in precise detail. In this
article, we have prepared a list of five most frequent mistakes which students make
while studying for exams.
Studying
Without Goal:
Studying without aim is one of the most
common mistake students make as they prepare for exams. They start studying
without setting any real target in their mind. You can say that you are going
to study non-stop till the test day, but it is an impossible situation, beyond
a particular time, your ability to focus collapses and too much revision is a
waste of time.
Keep asking yourself, “What grade are you aiming for
in in your upcoming entry test?” Be realistic in your goals. Once you have set
the target, it becomes easier for you to organize your planning ahead of time.
Too
Much Dependence on Teachers:
Nowadays students rely
too much on academies. They assume that all they need to do is to attend classes
and follow their instructor’s words. It can help them learn important formulas,
which your instructor puts on board, but unless you learn to work on how they
apply, you won’t be able to deliver them in exam.
Your tutor will be there to help you in understanding
the material but it will be up to you to internalize and show your potential in
exams.
Studying
at the Last Moment:
Sometimes students take entry test in light manner and start preparing for
the test stating,” I am going to set time aside to study so that I will give my
100 percent in exam! But not now…” This scenario is pretty much familiar.
Keep in mind that the more you put off your studies,
your sense of anxiety will grow, making it difficult for you to concentrate on
your study and then for the exams. So do it today.
The
Rote Learning Factor:
One of the most common strategies which
students utilize is going through their notes again and again, until they know
it by heart. This kind of rote learning doesn’t help one for the entry exam. It
is a passive learning technique which will cause more harm than good on exam
day.
Write in your own words, whether it is a problematic
question or an independent thought, the instructors prefer to see you in the entry
exam.
Not
Following a Proper Study Plan:
One of the drastic
mistakes, students make is that they try to cram all their knowledge of the
exam into a single study session, and do not know where to begin from. The
result is that they could not perform in the entry test due to time management
and proper study plan. The need of an hour is to make maximum practice of mock
tests according to a proper time table.
Good Luck!
