Finally you have become
a part of university, so we have prepared a checklist of the things which you
need to buy and help you in the smooth running of life at university.
- Make Proper Arrangement for Your Accommodation:
Many universities
in Pakistan offer comfortable and secure boarding facilities to male and female
students. Students are encouraged to help them interact with their peers.
It is never too early to start wondering about your
preferences and get in touch with the university accommodation office to book
onto an accommodation open day and discover your options.
- Your Finances have to be in order:
One of the most
important tasks is to arrange your finance accordingly. This may seem like the
least exciting task in preparing for university but it has to be dealt with
care.
Once your finances are sorted put, you can budget your
day-to-day activities accordingly. This include allowances for facilities and
luxuries related to food, clothing, socializing or visiting home, to avoid
landing in financial troubles later.
- Avoid Unnecessary Purchases:
If you are moving away from home,
make sure you have all the right purchases with you. Keep an eye out for
bargains, avail good seasonal and student discounts offered throughout the
year. Avoid unnecessary purchases and check how much space you will have. There
is no point taking items for which you have no space. Make a list of things you
need to buy and take it with you.
- Avail University Shuttle Service:
Visit the University
Transport Office to avail their shuttle service. The shuttle service provides efficient,
safe and timely travel to all students from hostel to campus and vice versa.
Students are encouraged to use their ID cards to avail the transportation
service.
- Start Reading:
Many universities will give you a reading lists
outline before their courses start and will share details through email. This
will give you an idea, where to begin reading and what to expect from your
workload. You don’t have to buy every book, identify the main topic and buy
these. You can also buy it from former students from the library.
- Learn to Cook:
Ask your mum to help you make your favorite meals at
home. You’ll be happy you did once you're fending for yourself. Student cook
books are great way to focus on simple and within budget cooking.
- Get to Know the Place:
Use the spare time to locate your nearest
shops, hospital, bus station, campus library and lecture buildings. This is a
great time to know about your housemates and making trips together to
university.
- Be with Your Family:
Spend quality time with your family in the
summer before university. Depending on how far you're traveling for
university, you may not be able to see them for a few months. So make great
memories with them.
- Enjoy the Freshers Week:
Be part of welcome week and take part in
all events, which are designed to help you settle into university life. Explore
clubs and societies according to your interest.
Lastly, enjoy every
moment as university is the place where you make friends for life, so get
involved as much as you can.
